I got my Kinect on Thursday and had a blat with Kinect Adventures that night; it was pretty good!

Yesterday I bought Your Shape: Fitness Evolved and spent most of last night working with that. Your Shape is a very impressive piece of software! I've got good slightly-achey quads this morning ^_^

I purchased the 250gb Kinect Bundle yesterday from Dick Smith, with Dance Central and Kinect Adventures. Dance Central is a great party game and it has alot of different songs from a wide variety. I would say that Dance Central is a game that most people should buy as it entertain's the crowd easily. I am abit disappointed with the quailty of the camera (megapixel wise). I think I remember reading on Engadget that it was not even a mega-pixel, and you can definitely tell when it takes photos of you during Kinect Adventures.

It is silly how these Kinect Bundles do not come with a Play and Charge Kit in them already in my opinion...

gehenna: how are you finding voice recognition? some aussies i know are complaining that it only seems to recognise american accents so far?

Bought our Kinect Sensor today, have to say we find this more fun than the Wii.  We only have Adventures at the moment, but had a great 2 hours playing through the games. The photos it took at various times brought forward lots of laughs. It's gives a good workout too.  Can't wait to get more games, it has brought my Xbox back to life and is great to the get the family involved.  The recognition is very accurate. I think Microsoft has a winner here and will probably be the hottest selling gadget this Xmas.

But srsly, can we not turn this into a PS3 vs. Xbox360 war?

+1

Kinect is great for Xbox owners, although may want to upgrade to the slim. Just a neater setup for Kinect. If Nintendo wants to stay in the game, they need to do something pretty drastic, Kinect/Move, will kill it.

Having a quick play on a friends Kinect, i'm pretty impressed, only issue I have is lack of space at my place, maybe ok if I leave it at the Bach, but then it's expensive to leave lying around if i'm buying an Xbox as well.

Space is the main issue I have as well; I've got a larger-then-usual apartment, but I'm still a bit short on space!

don't care about physical media. I use zune marketplace to download HD movies or stream them from my pc from the comfort of my couch. Streaming is the way to go. Cloud computing ftw!

If anyone In Wellington wants to check out the Kinect, JB Hi-Fi has one setup for use outside their gaming store. I gave it a crack today. Quite a bit of fun.

So the misses went out and bought an Xbox 360 Kinect 250gb bundle today without any hinting from me (Surprised) and we've just set it up. I agree with some of the reviews that state there is a slight lag when moving. I don't see it being that sensitive with movements, however we've only tried the Adventures games out of the box. For the most part it is easy to use and lots of fun! Right now the misses is jumping and swaying while trying to hit orbs on a raft of sorts. You need lots of space though! We're practically jumping on our couch trying to play, so the room will be getting a bit of a revamp tomorrow I expect.

All in all a fun wee system! I'm staggered that my girlfriend, who has never shown the slightest interest in an Xbox or even gaming wanted one of these so badly that she went to several different stores to find one! Just goes to show the sort of appeal that the Kinect has. I foresee lots of Dancing and Fitness based games in my future Embarassed

Yea I noticed the lag in the adventures games, but Your Shape Fitness Evolved is great.
I think alot of the lag is caused by the fact ultimately the adventures and sports games use your microsoft avatar, which seems to be a bit dodgey at the best of time even in non kinect games.

I mean try moving your body in a way you know the xbox avatar cannot move and watch it skitz out on the screen. Another big thing which i felt simulated lag was forgetting that your using your body to move the avatar, I'd get so imersed i'd keep almost waiting for the ball to come out of the screen at me in rally ball, so kept swinging to late.
I think only time will tell once the game devlopers really learn kinect how responsive it can actually be.

I really agree with your point about your girl, my girlfriend has never been into gaming or the xbox but since we got kinect i cant get her off it, its crazy.I also see alot of dancing and fitness games but you should check out the games in development in japan at the moment, theres some interesting takes on how to use kinect technology.

@ the earlier posts , It is a shame that Xbox360 doesnt have Blueray or infact a web browser, when i was stating that xbox 360 is the most complete console i was saying this because i too have a windows 7 media center pc also connected to my TV, this streams all my media through zune. and of course i browse using the PC , i guess PS3 is a good all  around console for people who dont have a good microsoft pc  as their home network hub. I mean we basically run microsoft everything at our place. So maybe if your running mac or linux or just dont use that kind of setup then PS3 is prolly great. I mean dont get me wrong I like sony products, but when it came to consoles the xbox 360 best suited the tech in my house,

I also heard that PS3 has some sort of video editor built in also, thats very cool. But again I use my PC for that

letting my assumptions that everyone runs windows get away with me.

Went with my mate to get a connect last week and setup was fantasticly easy (if its a word) and we were playing games in no time. Pulled out my laptop and he video called me from the xbox over MSN, and the kinect acted as a webcam and mic, and it auto zoomed and moved to follow his face which was absolutely amazing.

wow that seems like a really well rounded video to make a judgement on , especailly since ive seen alot of controller based games like joy ride that also do exactly that if you just hold down the accelerate button.

All this shows is that if developers put no effort into the game then its still rubbish on kinect
Kinect isnt a magic wand that will make any game awesome.

but seriously Bountypure01 i hope there is more to your opinion than that movie. Cos so far your comment just implies your open to anyone who can give an answer as to why this sucks to you

That movie is about dumbing down the gameplay with autosteer and having no level of difficulty not to show flaws in the kinect hardware. It's like how Super Mario didn't have 15 minutes of tutorials showing you how to jump etc like games do these days.
