It's weird to hear the bfbc2 sound of a Mcom counting down as it's annoying to hear that same sound over and over again, but I'll get use to it. Some of the graphics actually look quite fake (the contrast is too high), compared to bfbc2 anyone else agree? This looks more like COD, but with a whole new make over, except it has battlefield tactics/gameplay. I like how their are different kinds of stabbing a soldier, although over time that would get old.
Complaints about my comment, go ahead. I've only played bfbc2 and battlefield 1943.

You will probably find that the mcom sound is a placeholder, there are quite a few sounds that have been repeated from bad company 2, i would be surprised to see these in the final build.
I dont know what video you are talking about when you mention the contrast issue, i havnt noticed that, it all is quite bright compared to bfbc2, i thought the outside environments looked a little like far cry/crysis but that was purely based on the brightness & vegetation.
The videos have made it look quite a bit like cod aka run and gun, i hope this isnt the case, im hoping for a team based game like all the other battlefields, also no multiplayer vehicle combat has been released yet, looking forward to that!

Where is the best place to preorder this? I get most of my PC games through Steam but its not available on there (yet?)

Also I read somewhere that certain preorders get bonus content or something?

With the dollar so high is importing or a digital download, like Steam, the way to go?

Yeah I hope the sound of the Mcom's get changed, (time will tell). Every video I've seen on the multiplayer is too bright for comfort, in which I dislike the brightness, making the texture a bit weird. Graphics are great, although I see the destruction 2.0 engine has its limits, still in the beta version so its all good. To whoever leaked the videos (yes I know it was last night), thank you. I love how EA had to quickly make a new trailer to try and cover for the leaks. The maps look so open, for anyone to target you, in which thats a good thing :)

Mightyape have it for $88, firstgames have it slightly cheaper at $85 or so. You can go digital but its going to cost roughly the same and then youve got a 10-15gb download to deal with on release day!
Steam are not getting BF3, at least initially. EA are putting it on there Origin service instead of steam

The high dollar doesn't affect the game price of Battlefield 3, (unless of course you can prove me wrong).
I preordered it from here http://www.playtech.co.nz/, just preference from me

Yes you get the later released Karkand expansion pack, in which there are new maps to play on. This expansion pack will be of course released later on (a long while maybe) after the release of bf3.

Forgot to mention, the Limited Edition comes with the back to karkland expansion, which has some re-imaged versions of classic BF2 maps. Definitely a must get! If you dont get the limited edition you can purchase the back to karkland pack at a later date however.

Yeah Mighty Ape and First Games are always reliable, and BF3 is pretty much the same decent price there.

Good catch on PlayTech there campoki, its $79.99 w free shipping for most of NZ there.

I was wondering about the high dollar because on the PC version region restrictions probably won't apply right?

Amazon has it for $59.95 USD (+ shipping, which is probably too pricey to bother for one item)

But for download versions there EA's Origin store which lists it as a normal $89.99NZD

Sure you've gotta download around 10-15gb but I don't really mind if thats the only downside.

It's an EA game... we're gunna get at least 2gb of patches on the retail on day one anyway!

I really need to win lotto this weekend for a PC to play this on... nobody buy a ticket! (then I'll get the winning wheel next week)

What is putting me off the game is that I don't like games full of junk sound effects and unnecessary sounds. I think all sounds (in a multiplayer game) should be generated by the players with a few additional sounds (such as wind, trees moving, etc) for atmosphere.

I hope it's as good as BF1945. My friends and I played BF2 for about 2hours before we went back to BF1945 (and Desert Combat mod) and never played BF2 again. Mainly due to the player limit. Glad I 'tried before I bought' unlike my friends.

Yes that would be awesome. Although I think Dice has already thought of that, in which you can see rubbish been blown away by the breeze. What you may not know, is that there is so many sounds produced that, it sounds horrible if outputted together.

Therefore if their is no firing of bad arse guns (hardly ever), then I think you will hear the breeze and your foot steps and the what not (of the quiet, peaceful and people yelling at each other, environment), as soon as something noisy occurs, such as using your mean gun, then those "faint" noises cancels out and the sound is prioritise to whats more likely you will hear at that moment.

This is so obvious, yet it's good to clarify how gaming sound works.
Anyway's I enjoy the sound effects, especially in bfbc2 when a building collapses, and your standing next to it (just blows out your ear drums with that epic cranking sound).
