Same here. Unfortunately unable to download it at the moment, but will do the moment I can.
Can't wait.

Interestingly, it seems as thought the whole game might be free to download when it is officially released. And then a virtual store for small add-ons. I'm not sure how I feel about that concept. We'll see.

That's the only downer at the moment, having to purchase add-ons that should essentially be part of the game.

I have given it a go for 10 minutes and I must say I am very impressed. Wow, with graphics set to high, the frame rates are amazingly smooth! You only get to fly around Hawaii with this beta version. I get the feeling that you no longer need expensive machines to run this game. My computer hardly broke a sweat - while FSX causes the fan to speed up immensely.

It's a little clunky. I had to copy that link, and paste it on the Connect page (where I am logged in) for it to work.

Interesting, I'm all logged in, even tried in in IE9 (ARGH!)  same thing, just saying page not found.
I made sure I was logged in but still says the same thing.

OK after having reviewed the beta, here's my initial impressions:

Pros -
  • Amazing graphics and sounds
  • Better utilisation of modern CPUs and GPUs
  • You can really max out the settings without much trouble (i5 / 6870)
Cons -
  • It's made into an arcade game
  • It's made as an arcade game
  • It's an arcade game
Great potential but from what I have read, the world regions are not interconnected. If this is the case, it's a huge let down.

I seriously hope they do give us the "open world" option to fly wherever and however we want. Otherwise, we are back to the drawing board for us simulator fans, FSX.

Tried out X-Plane 10 - even better graphics than Microsoft Flight but the default world scenery and airports are severely lacking (read: 99% of the airport buildings don't exist).

I would imagine Microsoft Flight will be released at a similar time to the Windows 8 Consumer Preview, which is being released at 3AM March 1st NZ time.

Does anyone have any insider info as to when it will officially be released?

If it does coincide with the release of the Windows 8 Consumer Preview, I'd imagine Microsoft's servers will probably take a fair hammering.

Interesting. That link, however, is throwing up an SSL Error for me in Chrome.
I'm not sure that I trust that.

EDIT: I would imagine something official should appear here when it is ready to go.
