If Skyrim is as good as everyone says then bye bye spare time!  :)

I was not into RPG games at all but the Bethesda ones are time-sinks. I spent 200h on Oblivion, 175h on Fallout 3 and about 90h on Fallout NV (and still have a couple of DLCs to go & then finish the main quest)

I got Skyrim yesterday as well but I want to tweak it a bit before I get into it (my first observations are that it does need some decent graphical tweaking as it isn't maxing my CPU + GPU yet is dropping to 25fps it some areas in the intro)

Deus Ex Human Revolution is on sale for $14.99 at GetGames:

http://www.getgamesgo.com/product/deus-ex-human-revolution

... this gives you a Steam key and saves paying the $46-odd regional price there.

This regional pricing snots me off - if anyone else sees other ways around it for other games please post here :)

I chipped in a bit more to get the DLC as well - came up to less than buying the DLC on its own at normal price (which is good, because I wasn't willing to pay more since I was buying it to replace the mothballed Impulse version of the same game, which hasn't seen updates since 2010).  Also impressed with the company behind that as well - asked them a question and got a personal response within a day.

Also got The Witcher, Fate of the World, Universe Sandbox, Act of War (which doesn't work if you have more than 3GB RAM by the way), Overlord II, and Tropico 4.  Some of these are even more fun than you'd think reading the description!

Can you confirm that the prices are in NZ$? They say "NZD" but have a picture of Australia underneath them...

I can vouch for having an overseas friend buy stuff thru Steam to dodge the region restrictions.  I tried it with Dead Space 2 - it was $17.49 on 'special' here, but only $4.99 in the US.  My mate in the States bought it for $4.99 and gifted it to me, and I sent him a $5 amazon voucher.  Sweet!

I ended up spending around $120 NZ on Defense Grid, Train Simulator 2012, Batman Arkham Asylum, Skyrim and all the DLC for Deus Ex HR + the remaining DLC I wanted for Fallout NV. Great stuff! I also had five coal for entries into the draw (which I am guessing I haven't won anything from). I ended up getting around 10 Achievements but the coupons I got were pretty crap.

I have a few coupons for 25%-50% off Valve games (of which there are maybe 3 I don't own anyway) and a couple of other games that don't really do it for me anyway.

Also 4 coal.
