I just bought a Ryzen 7 3700x but its probably overkill still. Will eventually get a better graphics card for it but I dont really play enough.

For 1080p gaming, a 1060 will be fine with your current rig. Someone was selling one second hand on here the other day. I would bump it to 16g ram as well.

I also got an RX570 4GB I want to get rid of as well.

If you want to upgrade more than a 1060 with 16gb ram, then you looking at replacing the Mobo/cpu as well. Personally if you on the cheap look at the Ryzen 5 3600. Good bang for buck.

I replaced my i5-6500 because it just didnt quite cut the mustard in some games. More of a CPU bottleneck with my 1070.

Hows destiny 2? (I jest 😉).

Ryzen offers best price/performance. Gone are the days where a 4 core i5 was the recommended choice. Nowadays 6-8 is expected (thanks consoles) and mid-range (ryzen x600) are 6c12threads. Games are using more/requiring different resources. Best to build according to what you need/want.

Just to conclude this topic, I ended up chucking in an ASrock RX580 and a SSD. Couldn't find a 1060, sold out everywhere. The RX580 was only a little more expensive. Wasn't without issues, the RX580 output a black screen when I installed the drivers. Took me ages to figure out it was my 10 year old DELL monitor that somehow couldn't handle the AMD. Quite a wild goose chase, you wouldn't expect the monitor to be a factor necessarily (especially if it worked fine with the previous Nvidia). Either way in the end it basically doubled the performance based on the quick UNINGINE benchmarks.

Bonus is with the 8GB vram it allows for higher res options, not that the CPU or card can handle it..
