Altho i said that with my PS2 when that was released... "only buy a few games I love"... god knows how much later...eep.

But its a PS3 Im going for, have decided on that - fingers crossed my TM stuff sells tonight and Ill be on my way :)

You made the right decision mate.

You have definitely made the right choice bro. PS3 is awsome, it's more powerfull, better looking and the new motion controller that is coming (PlayStaion Move) looks like it will be a winner - better than Natal I think :)

Have both Xbox 360 and PS3 here. Have to say, the PS3 is great and a whole lot quieter. Like others have mentioned, rechargeable controllers, inbuilt wifi, blu-ray capable (and yes blu-rays look awesome), playstation home (its an ok time waster), Vidzone,  and if the article I read yesterday is true - TVNZ on Demand may be coming to it.

Oh yes and I didn't even begin to mention the definition on Blu-Ray disc, if you have a decent full HD 1080P LCD like myself (Sony Bravia 46" KDL-4500) your eyeballs will literally melt when watching a BD movie.

Xbox 360 all the way. Xbox Live, Game selection and Windows media center are unbeatable.

Actually i will say this, as a Xbox 360 user myself, windows media center is easily beatable

Unbeatable? Sony PlayStation has been dominating gaming consoles for the last 18 years. Don't forget that the PlayStation Network is free - that is unbeatable! All hail Ken Kutaragi!

When will Microsoft bring out their Xbox 720?? lol

wmc on my 360 lets me watch live freeview hd on my tv where my tv tuner is connected to the pc running wmc as well sitting ~ 40 meter away and let me record tv shows as well.

now which software can beat this functionality? and not to mention countless add on's/scripts that developers have created for wmc?

Actually, depending on where you want to go with your consoles focus, the WMC linking in with WMC on Windows 7 is actually pretty cool and seemless.

How does the XP360 get on with TV3's 1080i and dolby surround.  Does this work or does the media extender downscale the picture to 720P or something?

I personally think you run the risk with an all in one such as the PS3, of it doing lots of things, but nothing as good as a dedicated unit.  Still I have a PS3 and think for the games and bluray alone, that it's pretty hard to go past.  That's leaving out adding on a PlayTV and all the other stuff it can do too.

fan boy thing aside, buying both consoles will be an easy solution, not so easy on wallet (or purse?) though.

for gaming, my personal opinion is: most games on xbox360 are on pc, and pc games are a lot cheaper than console games (brand new game), and the price comes down a lot quicker in shops as well. of course you can't trade 2nd hand pc games which is a bummer... so for this i'd recommend ps3, most of ps3 exclusive games are excellent, uncharted2, killzone2 and the god-know-when-it-will-come-out GT5.

about media, i have so much trouble streaming media from pc to ps3, though i haven't really used much 360, i believe it works better than ps3 as they are all from MS
