Thanks I asked as I have been using Androids for sometime and I am trying to convince myself to switch to Lumia. So I have to decide one way or the other tomorrow. I have been impressed in the few minutes I have spent with the Lumia.

I went from Android to the Lumia 920 now I'm back on Android.

If you use a lot of Google apps, e.g. gTalk, Chrome, Google Now, etc, then you'll find the Windows experience lacking IMO.

You are right. Its all about using an ecosystem and getting used to it. Having used androids for a while it is hard to switch to another platform. What android did you get?

Got the Nexus 4.

I'm all about stock Android now, will most likely stick with the Nexus range from here on as I'm sick of waiting for OEM's to update or not at all.

I was tempted with Nexus 4 at $600 odd dollars but no sd slot so no, will stick with SGS3.

Hope you enjoy your new phone :)

What a deal!

Yeah I'm loving it coming from SGS2 -> Lumia 920 -> Nexus 4. Given I don't store music on the phone I find not having a SD slot isn't much of an issue.. I usually stream from Spotify or Pandora

Photos can be synced to dropbox/drive if necessary too.

scuwp: Crowds were nuts!

Knew what we wanted, grabbed it and got the hell outta there!

Same - and yeah, the crowd in HN Dunedin was pretty crazy. Parking at a premium, and it sounded like a pub on a friday night in there.

They didn't have what I wanted, but I got what is probably the last Logitech M555b bluetooth mouse in Dunedin at B+B at 20% off. (have one already, and love it)

Was it what... and very hot in store. I ended up getting a Canon Twins Lens EOS 1100D and a 500GB HD

joker97: what'sthenormalprice

dumb opera

zaptor: If your in Wellington looking for sub-$1000 full HD Big screen checkout HN Tory St, they have 60" LG Plasmas (60PA6500) for $998.
Obviously price matching NL for same model.
Googled the model, and seems fairly respectable for the price. Woud be especially so while stocks last.
NL Tory St had only 2 left. HN had like 7.

In the local rag HN had originally dicsounted to $1,293 from $1,600 - apparently (it's in the Big Sale flyer at that price). That was until they noticed the $999 price point for the same model at NL, and so promptly "re-adjusted".
Curiously, the RRP sticker said $1,999.
Was really tempted, but, common sense held out in the end. I'd already purchased a 55" EX500 Sony in last year's Boxing day madeness, albeit nowhere near the discount the 60" 60A6500 was going for (dang it).

Edit: Forgot to mention the NL $999 price was only revealed/published in the Dom Post this morning - cunning red team

Yep. A mate of mine got one as well. They aren't arguing, they just gave it up for that straight away. Really happy with it.

Also picked up a UA40EH5306 for $730 which was  effectively price matching LV Martin + freight. Xbox + new TV =  gaming without annoying the wife on the main TV.

I am thinking of buying one of the no-name Veon 39" sets from TWH for $399 as a gaming TV to replace the rather lacklustre 22" Samsung we're using.
Checked on the back, and confirmed it has component video in addition to 3 x HDMI ports.
Curiously, although the set says it's discounted by $500, it is not the same set as the "other" 39" Veon ($899) - which is a different, and possibly superior model. Visible inspection reveals both are obviously different - in physical appearance anyway. The more expensive model has a sleeker more stylish design, and image quality didn't look to bad either.
Couldn't compare with the $399 model as none were actually on display. However, that's not to say the cheaper one is any less capable in the image quality dept (where it really matters).
Kicker for me is the standard 3 year warranty (I know CGA and all that, but still I like the peace of mind/no hassle of the 3 years).

Well I picked a Xbox 360 Kinect Bundle (including 2 games) @ $199 from DSE; the offer was supposed to be live between 12pm-3pm today only; by 11:45am all the ready packages in DSE store were snatched up and then people just wait at the counter counting down towards 12pm to pay the special price; I would say by 12pm all units were gone already.

I was wanting to get one 60" LG Plasma for $999 but when I got to NL around 9:30am it was sold out. However I did manage to get one later from one HN shop at the same price

NL was also selling SONY 60" LED KDL60 EX720 for $1999 in store only; also sold out by 9:30am

Crazy day...

Handle9: JB Hifi have their page up now. Interestingly they are advertising a 4GB Xbox Kinect Bundle for $249 but when you click it it is a 320GB bundle. Thinking it?s a typo but hoping it's not!

Thanks for that - bought one this morning :)  The salesperson's exact quote was "if I can see it on the website, I have to offer it to you at that price"

They actually had an equivalent bundle advertised in store for $349, so it's a pretty decent discount.
