No, when I dial my 022 number from VFX I get a message that "the mobile network provider has yet to connect into the WxC network". I'd love to know when this will be done since there are now so many people on 2D that I can't call that it's more like ND (no degrees).

Asked question on face book this is response from 2degrees...

"Andrew - its a complicated issue. We're in active discussion with them right now. They are making our life somewhat challenging (we're not quite sure why!)"

That was Thursday...

This is crazy looking at a 2talk account now

I wonder how those people in Auckland who are on the trial of voip only to their home are feeling about this? Unlike most of us, they didn't activity choose vfx/xnet, Telecom used them to test voip to the home. Not being able to call a major new network is not really on.

I'm normally pretty supportive of vfx / xnet, but, if you want to be a phone line replacement, you really do need to be a phone line replacement. That includes being able to make phone calls to new networks.

A leak is typically something that people aren't aware of. The inability to call the numbers has been well known for quite some time however has obviously only come to the attention of people on here in recent days.

As for people slamming VFX there are two sides to every story, particularly when interconnects are involved.

For a long time it wasn't possible to call 028 number ranges from TelstraClear as they objected to paying mobile MTR costs to terminate calls a provider using non geopraphic codes to terminate calls on a fixed line network. People weren't on here slamming TCL..

Meanwhile TR's sister publication The Line reports that WorldxChange is blocking VoIP calls to 022 numbers due to a lack of interconnection agreement between the two providers.

WorldxChange director Paul Clarkin says he told 2degrees that when they launched that WorldxChange would block their numbers, because it would cost them too much to route 022 traffic via another carrier.

「They appear to be wanting to have very one-sided interconnection arrangements which is very strange considering they've been here for about two seconds and the rest of the industry has been here a bit longer,」 says Clarkin.

2degrees chief commercial officer Bill McCabe says 2degrees don't have interconnection agreements with other VoIP providers such as Slingshot, Compass and Kiwilink and they aren't blocking traffic. He says it's only necessary to have direct interconnection if the volumes of traffic warrant direct connections.

He says WorldxChange have been offered the same standard terms and conditions as the other VoIP providers and he appeared surprised that they were blocking their customers' access to the 2degrees network.

Great that XNet responded to customer's request to enable 022 calls (I assume that is why it happened so suddenly). Now if only the banks, TradeMe, etc. will allow you to use an 022 number. My point is all the badmouthing and complaining about XNet while it was only one of many companies not allowing 022 numbers. XNet, in my eyes you still do a great job.

What about the reverse? I just received my ChinWag SIM today, but I'm unable to call my WxC number (03 741 xxxx) from my mobile ("I'm sorry, we didn't recognise the number you dialed").

My mobile has no problems receiving calls from the same number.

It works for me from 2D to WxC, checked it a week ago (bunt not lately). I've got a "self selected" 0220 number.

This appears to be a 2Degrees problem with them not recognising your number/range (recorded message from 2degrees plays).

I have made some test calls from an 022 number and it does not reach our network at all. First port of call would be to log a fault with 2Degrees as other VFX numbers are reachable from the 022 network.

If you don't get anywhere with them please log a fault with the WxC helpdesk.

I believe this issue is now resolved, 2Degrees have made the appropriate changes.
