So I realise that there are similar posts, but I think my problem is truly unique. I just changed from XNET/worldexchange to slingshot today and went to set the router with the slingshot settings...... upon recommendations I read here I did a factory reset and now I can't connect to the router all I get is "limited or no connectivity". Nothing I can think of works. If anyone has any suggestions for me I would be grateful.

"upon recommendations I read here I did a factory reset" some more detail would help.
How are you trying to connect to the router. Factory reset will have changed it's IP address, you will need to change PC to be a different address in the same range.

Thanks for replying so quickly. I can't post links and I'm posting from my phone so its a little limited. I was reading a post that about wag310g connection problems with slingshot. it was suggested there that a reset back to factory defaults would be prudent. it seemed like a good idea at the time. Anyways I did that. I have my computer set to automatic ip and I am plugged directly into the router (wireless isn't working either fyi)

FYI you are posting everything twice.
WAG310G defaults to 192.168.1.1 after factory reset, have you tried connecting to that address?
If you cannot connect change IP address of PC to 192.168.2.2 and try again

after reset username=admin, password=admin

Another thought, have you rebooted the PC after the factory reset. It should get an address in the correct range (via DHCP) on reboot, then you can just connect to 192.168.1.1.

You do not need to reboot, just get another address via DHCP, but reboot is easer to explain.

Still no joy. If I change my ip to 192.168.2.2 like you said, the limited connectivity disappears but I still can't get onto the router. also the dsl light flicks off as soon as soon as I connect the network cable. So frustrating!

ok. so I made some headway. I found a posting elsewhere that said you needed to hold the reset button in for 60 seconds (not 30) and then switch the router off for a further 60. With some patience I completed this. Can connect to the router fine now. problem half solved. Still need to figure out what settings to use and how/when to enter them. finally giving up now for some sleep. Thanks for your help it obviously hadn't reset itself properly so all other attempts proved futile. ........ waste of an evening and I'm still offline
