Hi all,


I have issues sending mail from my wifi connection, i am using a Belkin wireless router and at the lappy a netgear usb adaptor
The message i get is a timeout message telling me there is no response from the sever, I have truned off windows firewall and it made no difference

can anyone assist??

I doubt its a problem with the AP/Router, more likely just a slow server and too tight timeouts. Have you tried pinging the server or assuming its the pop server thats the problem, using a hyperterminal or some other terminal program attempt to connect to port 110 of the mail server. Assuming you can connect then there is probably no issue and the same would happen via a wired connection.

Naturally have you checked the firewall in the router or your pc is not blocking port 25, 110 or 143 if IMAP.

You can use telnet to the port 25 (smtp) and see if you can connect.

Also, remember that most companies won't allow access to their smtp servers from another network, to prevent spam relaying.
