Hi

Have the tp link TL-Wr1043ND updated to the latest firmware, but i have this issue which existed before i updated to the latest firmware. Wireless suddenly drops but no problem with wired connection. I've noticed when this happens i cannot get to routers menu page, connection timeout error.

Reason i purchased this as there are lots of talks about this model and custom firmware which give you management benefits. However I've never actually read if there are any performance and stability gains.

I've noticed the same in mine running DD-WRT has happened maybe 3 times in the 6 months or so I've been running it, Usually with a month or so of uptime on the clock, Recently set it to restart every 7 days so I'll see how that goes.

Yea i have had one for about 2 years now and do occasionally get wireless drops where the wired ports continue to work, nothing a quick reboot doesn't fix.
Have just installed Gargoyle Router on it yesterday so will see if that makes any difference. I am tempted to just schedule a weekly reboot in the middle of the night though.

Had the same problem till I loaded gargoyle on TP-link. Pretty stable on the experimental build.

I am running 1.5.6

I see that the current build is on 1.5.8, will wait for some time before moving away from Backfire.

Had exactly the same problem with mine. Noticced that it started after a power cut but not sure if it is related or not. It continuously got worse until it was happening everyday. Stuck DDWRT on it and still didnt fix it. Eventually got anger management issues with it and threw it out. Up until I started having problems with it it was rock solid for about 2 years.

I'm using the same router with gargoyle 1.5.8.
So far so good, have had it running for more than 3 months now without problem.

I fixed a wireless issue by converting a WA701ND from latest stock firmware to OpenWrt (which gargoyle is based on)

Not the same issue as yours, but my Xbox would drop off wifi. Other stations still worked and web interface worked and showed the Xbox as associated. Rebooting the AP was the only fix. Since moving to OpenWrt problem is gone.

OT: Does Gargoyle get around the annoying regulatory issues with OpenWrt and let you use channel 12&13 without needing to hack/recompile?

Why would you want to use 12 or 13 they both overlap with 11 so not much benefit over using 11.

The results obtained from simulations, analytical models
and practical measurements justify the use of partially
overlapped channels instead of 3-coloring allocations
traditionally applied to IEEE 802.11b networks.

I've tested and there is a definite speed improvement going to channel 13. Could have a lot to do with the 2x baby monitors in our house :)
