I got my VDSL connected today, and am getting what I consider very good speeds given I am 600m+ from the cabinet (averaging around 30/9 at the moment).

My main computer is a 2008 Mac Pro which lives upstairs, and it's not wireless capable, but I had it running nicely on an Edimax usb wireless adapter, so I made the call to put the VDSL modem downstairs on top of a bookcase, which is about as central as it can get.

Everything was chugging along nicely, and I was busily trying to work out how to get my Time Capsule to work in bridge mode (no longer needing the router part of it), when the Edimax keeled over. The connection to the VDSL wireless signal started flicking on and off very rapidly and I couldn't get online. I've tried putting the little usb thingy in another port, removing and re-loading the software, re-setting the connection, and it's still doing the same thing. Other computers and i-devices around the house report strong uninterrupted connections, so I know it's not the VDSL modem itself.

Ideally what I think I need is a wireless bridge? Something that can pick up my nice strong wireless signal through the floor, and then relay it to the Mac Pro via ethernet cable. Any advice or alternative suggestions gratefully accepted. Obviously I'm after the best connection speed possible, and running cables through the walls is sadly not an option.
