Hello Everyone  Smile   For a few weeks now I have been trying to figure out how to share a dial-up internet connection using bluetooth. I've been on 2 other forums and still haven't gotten it working, so I found this site and it looks GREAT!  So, here's the scoop. If you need any other information just let me know.   I'm trying to share this computer's dial-up internet with my laptop. This computer is a dell desktop, windows xp with sp2. My laptop is a hp, with windows xp professional, media center edition. I'm using bluetooth dongles on both computers, and they are both IVT BlueSoleil. I have them networked, I guess that's what it's called anyway... In Network Connections there is the bluetooth network thing, using Bluetooth PAN Network Adapter. Other people that have tried to help me told me to right-click on the network on this computer, the one with the internet connection, and then go to properties then to the Advanced tab, and then there was suppost to be internet sharing options there, but there isn't anything about internet sharing, only windows firewall settings Frown   So anyway I hope you guys can help.  Thanks  Laughing

Welcome to Geekzone... Seeing you are running the IVT software with PAN, it should all be automatically enabled.

Start by checking your firewall software, they do interfere with networking a lot. Make sure the dial-up adapter is BRIDGED to your IVT adapter. Also you might have to manually configure a LAN with some distinct local addresses on both virtual Bluetooth adapters, but entering your ISP's DNS and gateway information.

OK, you lost me right after the talk about the firewall. lol i'm sorry but i dont know about all that other stuff yet, i'm really still a beginner but i want to be a expert one day Cool   I have heard of this "bridging" thing, but only by fooling around, exploring. I really have no clue what it is, and I dont have any bridges...  And i've already tried disabling firewall, and ICS still doesn't work

You can open the network properties, select both network adapters and then right-click the selection. You should see the bridge option there.

As for the other parameters (DNS and gateway), open a command prompt, run IPCONFIG /ALL and you will see this information. Right-click the Bluetooth virtual LAN adapter, enter a unique LAN IP address in each PC, plus the DNS and gateway information collected.

For LAN IP addresses you can use 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.0.250 for example, if there are no other network devices using those.

I recommend you create a restore point before doing those changes, just in case things go wrong.
