I'm more than a little stumped here. I don't claim to be an expert, but know enough to be dangerous (to myself!)

Got the new Orcon Genius router the other day for the new VDSL install (Netcomm NF4V). Changed the LAN settings in it to reflect what I had on the network already (LAN IP address and DHCP range).

All machines can access the web fine, but file sharing is now broken.

I have a Windows 8 Desktop (wired), a Windows 7 desktop (wired), and a Macbook Pro running Mavericks (wifi) which previously all played well together.

Just realised that the remote desktop connection I use from the Win 8 machine to the Win 7 machine is working, but I cannot go from the MB to the Win 7 machine. But also strangely the Samsung TV running plex can still access the PMS on the Win 7 desktop.

Any ideas on what to look for?

Perhaps DNS issues?

Try accessing your share with the IP address.... "\\192.168.1.100" for example.

Also give firewall configuration a check, when you plugged in your MB (or PC) the new modem/router may be recognised as another network therefore a different profile is applied.
