I have a Buffalo super G MIMO wireless router at my downstairs workstation, and until recently I also had a Buffalo super G wireless PCI card for my upstairs computer. The PCI card worked extremely well, strong reliable connections and consistently fast speeds, but when i downloaded lot of wallpapers from a Hollywood Movie wallpaper website then the card died. I went and bought a Wireless G Belkin PCI card to replace it, but I have huge problems. It's the standard G card not super G, but the speed is ridiculous! I'm am getting 8-10 Kb/s downloads. My normal (wired) internet speed is around 500Kb/s, and the old Wireless card got around the same. What the heck is wrong?
In general terms no wireless connection get to the same speed as a wired connection. Since you had a good connection before and replacing the card made it bad I suspect that it could be a problem between the card and wireless AP (it happens, Super G MIMO AP are really new and some still have compatibility problems with older standards) or interference from other networks, cordless phones, microwave oven, etc...
