Hi, Im pretty crap when it comes to network stuff.

I have an IOT device that talks to an internet IP (IP1). I cant change the IP it talks to but would like to get the device to talk to IP2 instead.

Is there anyway to redirect/forward traffic bound for IP1 to IP2?

I tried a static route but it didnt seem to work?

Any ideas?

What type of router? On 99% of off the shelf routers the simple answer is no.

With something like RouterOS, iOS or DD-WRT it would be pretty easy to create a custom dst-nat rule to do just this.

Thanks sbiddle. Router is a fritz box 7490 but my wifi access point is a dlink 880l which is supported by ddwrt.

I'll look into ddwrt some more - I have considered it before.
