Is it possible to use a Wifi USB dongle in an internet-connected desk-top PC to allow a Wi-fi equipped laptop to use that internet connection?

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

That should be possible by setting up a adhoc network between them and sharing the Internet connection.

Ay ideas how I go about setting up that network? WinVista?

- Enable Internet Connection Sharing on the desktop PC's internet connection (e.g. Local Area Connection - for when it's connected on Ethernet)
- Using 'Connect to Network' and selecting the ad hoc networking option.

I've done this. Its one of the things that I like about XP.

I had a Windows XP machine connected to the internet via ethernet cable.
The WIFI card in the XP machine wasn't doing anything.

Along comes weblordpepe with his WIFI enabled PDA...

I created an ad-hoc network between the PDA and the XP machine.
I selected both the WIFI and the Local Area Network icons, right clicked em & went 'bridge connections'.

Magically the XP box connected the networks, and thus sent the internet, DHCP and all the rest through to my PDA.
