Hi

Anyone have issues with a Cisco VPN client (Mac, SSL-based not IPSec) talking to the server via a Slingshot NF4V modem? This is their standard one, but also one that the likes of Orcon use ("Orcon White").

A workmate of mine is getting his newly installed Fibre connection's WIFI drop when he connects to the work Cisco VPN. Works fine otherwise.

VPN client is AnyConnect v4.3.02039, tho I'm going to get the latest 4.4 from our provider today and try that out too.

Anyone got this working (well, had it failed and fix it) ?

Thanks

Nic

There is a known-issue on NFV4 with Cisco VPN that effectively prevents the VPN client from connecting:

I'm not aware of any other issue specifically.

What do you mean by "WiFi drop" - if the WiFi went away, and that was the only method of the client PC connecting, then the VPN would also drop, as the VPN client would lose its upstream connectivity.

If, however, the problem is that once the VPN connects then anything else on the internal LAN (i.e. the "WiFi") becomes unreachable, then that's pretty much what VPNs client are designed to do.  They connect the PC to the remote network, and tunnel all traffic over that link; most VPN clients will cause any other "local" addresses to be blocked as they also get sent down the tunnel rather than onto the local LAN.

I'll check it, but from what he was saying, the WIFI icon on his mac just goes to "disconnected", kind of like if someone turned the router off.

I'll have a read of that link, tho - thanks

ok, so from the link you posted:

I've had to "untick" the Enable IPSEC box under Advanced Setup -> NAT -> ALG

Does it matter if it's NOT an IPSEC VPN? We use an SSL VPN - no IPSec at all...

OK; what he's probably seeing is OS X indicating that there is no direct internet connection once the VPN is established - which is probably true if the upstream network has a firewall blocking the internet.

Sorry, don't know; not sure exactly which of the NF4V internal options interfere with what sorts of VPNs...
