Hi All,

We've received a FritzBox for 2 Degrees broadband, and I've set it all up and we're online no problems. We have an issue now though, whereby the phone doesn't ring. It's just a standard phone ie. not DECT, and is connected to the standard filter and then the wall. The FritzBox is then connected to the same filter.

I've had a play around in the settings on the box, and I'm buggered if I can find a way to get the phone working again. It doesn't ring at all, and only beeps repeatedly at you when you pick it up.

Anyone got any ideas please?

You don't connect the phone to the filter. You connect the phone to the wall. You connected the filter to another jack.

Ideally you would have a master filter instead.

So I have to move the phone to a new jack somewhere else basically?

Good point. If the number was ported to 2degrees then the phone should be connected to the Fritz!Box surely?

you should plug it into fon1 on the modem but if you have changed the settings then you may need 2degrees to get it going again remotely .

Well, the phone I have plugged in is a 5 year old Panasonic Digital phone, so VOIP isn't relevant (?) and yes the number has been ported over to 2 degrees.

its not the phone , 2degrees use the internet and the fritzbox to provide phone services, so you have to plug a normal phone into fon1 to get your phone to work , y

just remember you use the Fritzbox to manage your phone, you can block numbers , set up the answer phone etc , have a look what you can do.

Bit shocking that this wasnt all provided to you along with the rest of the information when you joined like that the phone will not work in a power cut or if the internet goes down etc.

The information supplied was sparse, to say the least. No instruction manual or anything. The help section from the GUI is quite good, but could definitely do with a separate manual.

If I was to plug the phone back into another phone jack in a power outage, presumably it would still work then though?

vexxboy - yes I've had a poke around quite a few of the settings. They might actually now be relevant with a phone that actually rings!

No idea how to set up a voicemail though. Again, a proper instruction manual would have come in quite handy!

No, because the phone is provided by the fritzbox, the analog line on the chorus copper is only providing you with DSL internet.

just turn it on in the Fritzbox and it will work , keep it to 20 seconds otherwise you will never have time to find phone.
