Hi, i have 2 routers that i want to connect wirelessly to each other . Both are HG659b routers.

RouterA is connected to the internet (fiber) and has both wireless SID and lan connections.

I want RouterB to connect wirelessly to RouterA and work as a possible wifi repeater. I see lots of information about doing this through a wired connection but I need help doing this through wireless.

I am not sure what is the correct terminology for this setup. AP Mode ?? Wireless Bridge??

Please help with the setup.

If you cannot run ethernet from one router to the other, then you will need to invest in some powerline adapters.

Is it not possible with hg659 routers or not possible at all with any routers.

i also have a netgear dgn3700 router. what if i choose the netgear router as Router B? i do see options of AP and Bridge mode but not sure about the settings.

Repeater mode is described in the Netgear manual.

Some routers have a "wifi repeater" mode, but since you have presumably looked through the config settings an not been able to find it, then it might not be a function of this router. Probably better to get a device designed to work in the way you need it to.

If you do manage to get a wifi repeater going, you can expect it to be horribly slow and far more susceptible to random interference and bad signal. Try putting the repeater in different rooms/hallway closer to the internet router until it gets a reasonable signal from the router. Sometimes theres a way to run an ethernet cable (eg Cat.6) under the floor or through the ceiling.

Time to find a new industry!
