Hi All,

I've noticed Mightyape is running a special on some Asus routers, just wondering if anyone has had any good or bad experiences with them what if they have a preferred device?

Also I'm currently using a Fritzbox 7490 using Spark Fibre (900/400 plan), would I see any gain upgrading away from this? I'm looking to see if I can get any better Wifi performance in terms of coverage.

I'm seriously not a fan of these devices for xDSL.

the chipset/firmware is just so damn picky... also it makes it far too easily to tweak snr for the inexperienced user.

Can't say i have seen too many issues for fibre though.

The only gotcha is the DSL ones don't often offload properly..

Netgears also seem to have the same issue, kinda annoying for a device marketed to do it all.

Best option is you want improved WiFi is a dedicated standalone AP.

The stand alone routers are fine for all in one units, however the ones with xDSL built into them are a bit finnicky - wouldn't recommend 'em.

If you're gonna be on DSL for a while, get one and a Draytek Vigor 120/130 depending on if you're VDSL or ADSL, if you're not, get gigabit and see what your ISP gives you - odds are that'll be good enough unless you're doing some pretty intense stuff, where like sbiddle said, you're better off piecing a network together out of a proper router only router and some access points.

Sorry I'm not using DSL, I've got Fibre through Spark on their Gig plan.

Dedicated AP does sound like a good idea
