Not sure where to put this, sorry it is the wrong place. My ERL decided to die on me tonight, and i needa replacement asap tomorrow. I know PB Tech carries them, but i want to avoid their cc fee, and the drive to manakau

Is there anyone else in Auckland, North Shore preferred that carries them? Thanks for any help. Sorry for any typos, on mobile. Cheers

Died how?  What symptoms?  I have had two ERL problems to date, and neither was dead.  One needed a new USB stick, but was under warranty so I RMAed it and got a replacement.  But you can just buy a USB stick that is small enough to fit and go through the full recovery procedure to get the new USB stick working.  I did the recovery procedure several times while the USB stick was failing and it gave me another few weeks of normal operation before the USB stick gave errors again.

The other failure, just a few months ago, was a dead power pack.  I had a compatible one lying around, so I tried that and the ERL itself was fine.  If you need a compatible power pack, Jaycar has one.

Which USB stick did you use @fe31nz As I had my original ERL die with a failed USB stick. But I couldn't find one that the boot loader would recognise. I couldn't just RMA my ERL as it was way out of warranty.

It was working fine for ages. But I shut it down so I could re configure some power cables. It wouldnt reboot after power re applied. Viewing the console output showed that the original USB stick was giving read errors.

Ended up just buying a new ERL. But I still have the old one, that only needs a new USB stick to get it working again.

It went down last night. I thought the internet had just dropped, so i attempted to log into the web gui, however it wouldn't reply. I then tried to ssh into it but it wouldn't reply to that either. I did a reset, holding the reset button while rebooting, it flashed the led on eth2, then went solid and out like it had reset, but it didn't reply to anything and I'm unable to geta connection to it. I don't havea serial cable, so i can't do much there.

It's well out of warranty, so I'll see ifi can find a USB. Does it need to bea certain brand?

If you reset it you need to connect to eth0 and start the config again

mentalinc: If you reset it you need to connect to eth0 and start the config again

I'm aware of that, I've configured this router a few times. It never replied after assigning a static IP in it's subnet and attempting to connect to it, it wouldn't even reply to a ping.

This morning I was able to take it apart, and reflash the USB drive using instructions I found on the ubiquiti forums. It has come back up for now after doing that, so I'm going to say the flash card is going. I have ordered one from Amazon that everyone is stating works. I had tried another power supply, as well as resetting it a few times and it never replied to me at all.

I was able to download the system image from the one linked on this site: https://hilo90mhz.com/ubiquiti-edgerouter-lite-erlite-3-internal-usb-storage-fail/

I was then able to flash it using a usb imaging tool, which gave me a very old version of the software installed, but it was running. I've been able to reflash the current firmware with no problem, I'll just be sure to replace the usb drive as soon as this one is in from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004UG41YQ/

Hopefully this helps anyone that runs into the same issue. I'll update once the usb card arrives from Amazon, and keep an eye on the one installed currently in the ERL.

Also sorry for the typo in the subject line, I was typing on my phone and it was hard to see.

If you want a later version of the software as an image I can build one.

Thanks Michael, that would be great if you woulnd't mind. I was a bit worried upgrading from 1.02 (I think it was) to the current one in one shot. But it seemed to be okay and took my backed up config without a problem so far. Cheers.
