Got a location where I'm keen to install some Amplifi kit. Currently there is a Vodafone HG659 there, on ADSL (no VDSL available, Fibre not coming). I just remembered that the HG659 cannot do bridge mode on ADSL which threw a bit of a damper on my plans.

Normally I would put in a DV130 in bridge mode, but trying to keep the cost down in this case.

Does anyone know if there is a way to avoid dual NAT, but keep the Huawei in place? Really want to take all the heavy lifting off the Huawei, as currently it seems to be struggling with the number of devices on the network.

Any thoughts appreciated!

I had to do this - it isn't an ideal solution however this is what I did:

1) Allocate a static IP to your AmpliFi on the HG659
2) Do a DMZ to the AmpliFi on the HG659

This does indeed result in a double-NAT but will work for the most part.

See if you can pick up a cheap Draytek DV120 to replace your HG659. It'll work quite a bit better here :)

no need for bridge mode on the HG659 - Amplifi supports what they call 'bridge mode' on the AF-i-R (really it's just access point mode), select that and it'll work fine with the HG659, no need for double-NAT etc
