Have a HG659, running the latest firmware supplied by BigPipe ~12 months old.

Have an interesting intermittment issue with what seems to be DHCP leases. Occurred in the last 15mins with my iphone 8 being unable to access the internet via wifi (4G Spark fine). At the same time my iphone 7 and ipad could still access the internet. All three devices running 12.1.2.

I looked at the wifi information in iOS for the iphone 8 and all the dhcp information was missing, the iphone was showing as connected to the wifi router, (status bar), but wouldnt look up the router address. I then logged in to the router on the ipad, the DHCP lease was -190 hours.

Turned the guest network feature off and the iphone is now working. Interestingly the ipad then forgot the network key. Have checked the logs and can’t see anything...

Couple of thoughts: could it be the number of reserved devices (28), lease duration is one week not sure if this influences the situation, uptime currently is 7 days.

Are you saying this behaviour is typical of this issue?

Note: 28 isn’t the concurrent number, it is the number of reservations - would need to count the WiFi devices.

What is the maximum?

It usually craps out at 16 devices.

16 devices per WiFi band I think, with a total across WiFi and ethernet of 32.

It started happening at my place over Christmas while my daughter was home from uni (2 laptops, phone, Rpi all on Wifi.) I moved my laptop to the 5G band which fixed it for me, and it stopped happening for the rest of the family when she went back to uni. There were only 11 or 12 active wireless devices (with non-zero leases) though when it was happening. Is there some other qualification that counts toward the 16 limit?

As above known issue, seen many times, but not device number dependant despite what's mentioned above, happens with d disappearing dhcp lease on less connection numbers. Seems to be fault on firmware. Rsp knows about but won't admit as much...

Speak to your rsp, ask for a new router, does not seem to affect all... Otherwise would have more noise around it. Best recommendation buy a decent first, Router swap solved this issue for me instantly.

reboot it will clear its memory

you will get the issue again at some point though. could buy a different device that doesnt have that problem.

There was an issue with certain HG659 firmwares that causes OP's issue. Vodafone and Spark both released firmware updates to fix it. Maybe check your firmware against the known issue, and whether the firmware is the one that have meant to fix the issue.

Hmmm... Should ideally be B026.

Trouble is, I can't update it because Vodafone disabled / changed the password for the Admin account last year.

Guess I can log a call and say "you broke it, you fix it."

One of the help pages gives a list of fixes in B026:

Separation of 2.4GHz and 5GHz SSIDs
Improvement in 5GHz auto channel selection
Update to DTMF signalling to improved compatibility.

Doesn't sound too hopeful, SSIDs are already separate at B020. Still, worth a crack Nigel...

Have you tried the advance login rather than the vodafone/vodafone one (both case sensitive Username: Admin Password: @[last 8 digits of your modem's serial number])?

how old is the modem? if it's older than prior to when they changed the password, then a factory reset and use the old password?
