After aeons of complaints about the wifi deadspots I've bitten the bullet on a mesh system.  I've chosen the COVR AX for the number of wired devices I can plug into each node.

But no matter what I do, using the setup app, I cant get the mesh node to connect to the internet through the supplied Vodafone HG659 router.  I can only get an internet connection by plugging the mesh node into the ONT (replacing the router) despite the setup process clearly showing it plugged into a LAN port on the router.

I've tried it with ethernet from router to WAN port on the mesh node, from router to LAN port on the mesh node.  It wont connect through the router at all.

Am I missing something obvious?  Replacing the Vodafone router is not my preferred option given the loss of the home phone security blanket for some household members......

does it even allow you to connect as a mesh system behind another router?

Thats what the setup guide indicates but the app automatically populates the settings as if it were a 3rd party router.  And if you select to add the device as an extender (which is all I'm essentially trying to do) then it wants to add the first node to an existing mesh network (and I'm guessing will want to copy and sync the settings from existing nodes).

I havent tried forcing the master node to be an extender via the web-based administration (rather than using the app).  Probably tomorrows task as I've had a gutsfull for today.

The COVR main node is a router by itself. It will automatically get a connection if plugged into an upstream router. It will not be a mesh node if not connected to another COVR device.

The best you could do is setup the COVR AX in bridge mode and configure its wireless, then plug the nodes.

Disable the wireless in the main router and things should work.
