hey lads, trying to connect an HP laptop to the internet via wireless

laptop finds wireless broadcast from the thomson router, connects fine (have tried no security, wep, wap) - then i try to load a webpage in IE and get a generic connection failed error - also says "detecting proxy settings" for a second or two down the bottom

pinging www.google.co.nz and "ping request could not find host www.google.co.nz. please check the name and try again."

was hoping i could just pick up the network, connect and that would be that, but er... not so lucky?

two PCs on wired are XP pro SP3, the laptop is XP home sp2
