I have two 2 DLink DBT-120 (one Rev 3 and one Rev 4). I initially had the Rev 3 working with Drivers 1.2 from CD ROM (3.1), upgraded to drivers 1.4.2 (to get PIM service) knowing nothing about the licences issue and would not work. Eventually got a security key code for the Rev 3 from Widcomm web site but the Rev 4 MAC kept giving "incorrect" BD. The Rev 3 would still now work with 1.4.2 even with the security key. Anyway uninstalled everything and used the original CD for Rev 4 (which has a later version 3.4, drivers 1.4.2) and does have licence .dat file on CD. used the SP2 fix to get it working, even though I do not have security key (boxes thrown out a while ago) - presumably the lisc.dat file is sufficient. However if I plug in the Rev 3 it still sorts of work but gives " no valid security" but does not lock me out to software. This I presume is different to the usual to use the software that I had before..

Can anybody enlighten me? Can I have more than two security codes for the same installation. I do have a security code for the Rev 3 DBT 120? How do I enter a second one?

No, I don't think it's possible to have this - the information is stored in a single location on the registry, not linked to a specific device.

Thanks. Does that mean the licencse is for the sofwtare and not tied to a device. i.e. if there are two similar DBT-120 devices (with different MAC) , should they both work?

Yes, if the devices are the same model they should work.

Well eventually solved some, although I do would not recommend D-Link for BT ( DBT-120 0 a they do seem in a real mix up with drivers - look a comments on Amazon. For what it may help others:

Machine 1. Got the Rev 3 working with downloaded drivers 1.4.1 . This was from www.dlink.co.uk (not sure they are on the main DLink Portal) . You have to look up the serial number for Rev 3 and choose case 1 or 2. This did not seem to work out as I had thought as Case 2 I thought would not need a security code but it did. I had already managed to 2 days ago to get a security code from Widcom web site for the MAC of the Rev 3 DBT-120 I had. Installed 1.4.1, entered the security code when asked, did the driver update in device manager for the SP2 fix and then clicked on My Bluetooth places to configure and it works. I have noted if you put in different USB port - the SP2 problem reoccurs - have to reset device drive to DBT-120 (watch for 2 BT icons appearing in system tray)

Machine 2. Unable to get Rev 4 to install with downloaded 1.4.2.10 drivers as could not get security code to enter!! Still no response from D-link. I did manage to get it to install from the CD that came with the Rev 4 which is 1.4.2.8; I am not going to try upgrading to .10 as spent far too long on this anyway.

As final follow up- eventually had this reply from DLink - does not exactly clarify matters to what software to use and suggests that if you have the Rev 3 then you will not be able to use the latest build. Also does not seem to fit with my experience in that Rev 4 also seems to ask for security key with some of the dlink drivers. Amazing - the same product 4 months apart, same box, same name and number but cannot intercahnge the equipement. My fault should have examined them for serial numbers:

DLink response:

"Please note that the DBT-120 rev B3 and rev B4 units cannot be used interchangably on the same machine. The reason for this is that they use different software. The DBT-120 rev B3 software will require a security key whereas the DBT-120 rev B4 will not require one. Please ensure that you have installed the correct software for the DBT-120 revision that you are installing to prevent any problems".
