Is Bluetooth an RS232??? If I had a program written for RS232 connection could I bypass the cables and use Bluetooth instead if my devices are BT enables? Will B.T. only allow you one item at a time?

Can a bluetooth card accept several items at the same time? i.e. could I hook up a laser and GPS receiver to a laptop with a Bluetooth card or would you need two bt cards?

I'm trying to get a customer of mine outfitted with a bunch of equipment and I'm not really sure what this bluetooth technology will do.

Thank you so much for you time!

Derek

Bluetooth is not a RS232, although it can emulate ports (incoming and outgoing) through one of its profiles.

You can have up to other seven devices connected to a Bluetooth module, however which services are available will depend on the software. In general I had no problems having a headset, Pocket PC (ActiveSync over serial) and a laptop (Network Access) connected to my desktop.

Check out our Bluetooth Guides for some articles explaining Bluetoot and what you can do with it.
