Ok guys see if you can work this out. Had a 3870 Ipaq for ages working all good with Nokia 6310. Upgrade phone to Sony Ericsson v600i. Ipaq crashed all the time. Upgraded OS to Pocket PC 2003. Fixed quite a few things. Bluetooth sees the new phone without crashing, dials in and tries to make internet connect on Vodafone but won't connect. Tried the same thing on InfraRed.. worked a treat.. when it dials in on Bluetooth just says cannot make connection.. check settings etc.. if I switch to IR using exact same settings dials straight thru.. any ideas guys??

Try adding z; to the beginning of the Init String (if there's none in use just enter this).

Also, if still won't work, then try z;+cgdcont=1,,"web.vodafone.net.nz"...

Goddamm! You are soooo fast and sooo onto it! Amazing reply so wuick and bang on the money!! You have done in 2 mins what Vodafone, HP, and Sony could not do at all! How do you know those settings?? And why are they needed for that?? How did you know to assign those particular commands? Thanks by the way.. bloody brilliant. I was thinking I was going to have to forget about using the bluetooth on this altogether..

Good to know it's working now! It seems all new Motorola and Sony Ericsson require the reset command - don't know why. Used to work fine before with older models.

Hmmm. Vodafone, HP and Sony. Shame we don't get paid by these guys for supporting "their" clients (at least Vodafone talks to us - what about HP, these guys don't even reply to emails!).

But hey, hope you help spread the word about us...

Have a great weekend!

Very true.. I rang HP and was given an 0800 which went thru to India! Yeah it's working a treat so thanx a lot.. I was even told it was probably time to update the Ipaq!! Can ya believe it?! very quick on the V600 with 3G too.. speed excellent. By the way I checked in the Data Comm settings of the phone and because of the init settings in the Ipaq has forced a chang to the APN settings on the phone to web.vodafone.net.nz.. they were www.vodafone.net.nz.. it still seems to function fine with getting on the net directly by the phone. Should it make a difference??

Nope. These are equivalent. There's a direct one (bypassing the Optimiser and firewall), but you will get charged with any traffic to your IP address.

Enjoy the speed...
