Anyone had a problem with a APC UPS (CS model) turning itself off when the power foes off (defeats the purpose somewhat)? I have two of them, one is fine the other is failing. I've run the self test but it believes it is fine.

Sound like a battery problem, have you checked it? You can interchange the batteries to discard a battery problem...

Do you have luck with you UPS?? or it doesn't want work?
I had the same problem the other day with a customer, it was an APC CS500. The battery was too old, I replaced it and works fine again...

I found the problem was actually a shorting IEC connection. I went to swap the battery when I started to disconnect it heard a crackling sound, gave the them all a wiggle and one was loose, so I secured the connection and it's been all happy since (well for 4 days anyway), will wait a week before I decide it's resolved.

That doesnt sound good. My old UPS had problems switching off at random too, battery was finished but seems that the battery warning was not the only thing broken. Now replaced with the new CS500, really nice for such a compact unit., although wish it had a 12V out for my voip phone.

Time to find a new industry!
