I read MFreitas' excellent bluetoooth guide for connecting to GPRS but unfortunately with Cingular, it's a whole different animal!
Where one puts in the USER NAME, one puts in WAP@CINGULAR.COM(all in caps
Password is CINGULAR1 (again all in caps)
There is no Initialization string other than END
Phone number is 14152441012
As I live in the super boonies of Illnois, this is the only way it will work with my UX 50; other places may work differently
I had a PDF file mailed to me from a user on Clie Source that gave me this information.
The company, Cingular is clueless so don't waste your time asking them...

If you're using these settings you're not connected to Cingular GPRS. You're using CSD, which is just a dial up - and it's using your minutes.

Try this page for more information on Wireless Internet Express, the Cingular GPRS service, and then call call 1-866-463-6272 or *611 for more details.

Say exactly that you're looking for GPRS, not WAP.

And in your way you are being charged .03 per KILOBYTE after 1 megabyte.......Which is more costly do you think? Go ahead call *611...and see what kind of answer you get...After the duhs and ahs...and being passed around from place to place on the companies network (after being hung up on several times) the end result is TADA.....NO ANSWER

Bin there done that....

Your original question was about connecting to GPRS on Cingular. The information shared in the original post points to WAP connection over CSD.

It's obvious then that the guide will not help you, since the guide is for GPRS.

If you want GPRS, you pay per MB and browse at 48kbps. If you want CSD you pay per minute and browse at 9.6kbps. Your call of course.

The guide is correct for GPRS.

I'm merely saying that in this area of the country your GPRS guide with Cingular does not work...It may work with Voda or whatever but for Cingular, its a dead issue
