What's your budget? $100 or $1000 per camera? What are your requirements? VGA or mega pixel?

I wouldn't like to spend more than 200 but i have no idea what they are worth as i had no luck finding much from nz websites. Quality is not a biggie as long as it's colour.

Nice cheap IP Cameras there, just gotta wait for the delivery (sometimes upto 3 weeks) but it's well worth it with the money you save.

I recommend the Foscam FI8918W.

At home, you can access the FI8918W over your local network, or externally from the Internet when your away from home - from your mobile phone, or Mac/PC Internet browser.

At home, the FI8918W connects to your Wifi modem/router. No PC needs to be running, just the camera and your WiFi modem/router.

When you log in remotely, you can control the camera to pan/tilt/rotate via your browser, there's two way audio (talk and they hear you and visa versa, or just listen), time of day schedules, email alerts when movement is detected, track movement and photos taken, etc.

I recommend the FI8918W over all of Foscams previous indoor models.

I buy stuff off there all the time, very cheap, free delivery, can't fault them at all. Everything is shipped from Hong Kong and you pay with PayPal.

Some of the things on there is questionable. Like I would never buy the likes of Condoms off there (except I have once as a April fools prank last year)

But for general cheap electronics, such as Laptop Cases, Lasers, and random other things it's totally fine :) - Go crazy, except don't become like me and spend all your money on it ;)

dealextreme is a legit site. It's the closest thing you'll get on the internet to a $2 shop.

The only problem is shipping can sometimes be a lot longer than they say.

The Foscam product on the http://dealextreme.com website looks to be the generic OEM version, and to be honest to be >Avoided
That OEM generic version has a number of physical ports/features missing that are added/improved in the Foscam FI8918W version. The back of the Foscam FI8918W does NOT look like this - green-pins at the back were abandoned ages ago:

Thats the basic advantage of IP, but some cameras may have more remotely activated features than others. You may need to setup port forwarding on your modem if you want to access it from outside.

Time to find a new industry!

It really gets back to what you want to use the cameras for.

The Foscam is it's a 640X480 VGA resolution which makes it useless for anything serious in terms of security applications. Compare this to the 1920 x 1080 2MP cameras that are now pretty much for the norm for IP CCTV security applications.

The Foscam one i found on trademe, looks like a decent deal at 179.00.

Define "not too expensive".

Mobotix make the best IP CCTV gear but they're ~$2k per camera. You can pick up some goog Level One kit for around $700 per camera now which is IMHO a good deal.
