I know these discussions pop up quite regularly, but I have done a search on these forums and couldn't find anything that is discussing exactly what I am after.
I am setting up a home office for a mate of mine. I have just bought him a new laptop with Wireless N built in. I want to ensure he has a backup strategy in place so was thinking a good solution would be to buy a 1TB USB external hard drive and plug this into a wireless-N router with file sharing capabilities.
I can then setup some backup software to run on his laptop and automatically backup to the external hard drive every day. He is not all that computer literate so it needs to be silent, and automatic.
I know he should have a third copy, kept offsite, but it is baby steps for this guy!
So I need a router with ADSL, wireless-N, and USB file sharing (+ printer if possible) capabilities. I came across the HG556a which is supplied by Vodafone - it seems it has some limitations with the file sharing - is this a viable option?
Are there any other better options out there? Open to any suggestions.
