Hi all, I am having a problem with Internet connection sharing. I am on a wireless connection using a router which I do not have administrative rights to. The router's admin page is at 192.168.0.1 but in order to use Internet connection sharing under windows XP the host computer is required to use this address. Under different circumstances I would simply change the router's IP to free up this address, as others have suggested here http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?ForumId=8&TopicId=5537
However, I cannot do this.
As windows xp does not seem to be flexible enough to allow me to change the host's IP, I need a different solution. Does anyone know of a workaround so that I can use ICS without changing the router's IP? Is there any 3rd party ICS software that would let me do this? I am willing to upgrade to a different operating system (i.e. linux or win2k3server) so that I can share this internet connection with my XBOX.
After brief searching on google I found nothing for winxp and a program called Firestarter for Linux that does internet sharing, but it also seems to use 192.168.0.1 as the host IP. I am uncertain as to whether this is an absolute requirement for the network protocols and whatnot or it is simply a software limitation.
I would appreciate someone's knowledge to point me in the right direction.
Thanks much.
