Got a problem with Windows 7 on my Toshiba Laptop on my Windows Network. Laptops running Windows XP are all OK as is a MacMini running Windows XP. A Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tablet is also OK.

When resuming from Sleep and sometimes periodically during use it loses all Internet connectivity.

Network Setup.
Win2008 R2 server providing DNS and DHCP
2 x Wireless Access points both secured by WPA2 Personal (PSK) + TKIP / AES
- wrt54gl running Tomato on Channel 11
- TP Link WR1043ND stock standard on Channel 6

100% of the time when resuming from Sleep the Yellow Explanation shows and when you try to connect you get the "trouble shooting prompt. If you trouble shoot, it is all fixed and working after resetting the Wireless Adapter. This happens when close to either of the Access Points.

It also periodically happens when browsing the internet with either AP.

When doing IPCONFIG /all when its not working just shows the media as disconnected.

Have tried setting a static IP as well as using DHCP ... same result.

Have tried all manner of settings which many have suggested on a multitude of sites ... as it seems to be a common problem. Most of the suggestions for resolving focus on "Are you in range etc". I am in range of the AP's :) Its not due to Torrent downloads or high speed downloads ... as quite literally ... don't do those. Have enabled/disabled WMM (in fact got one AP enabled and the other disabled ... no difference). Have tried enabling / disabling power management on the card.

Driver is the most current for the Realtek TRL819SE Wireless NIC.

Any ideas anyone?

We live SemiRurally, but ran inSSIDer to see if I was getting any interference from anything.
The neighbours AP displays, just, but is on Channel 5and in the 2.4GHz range nothing else shows.

Probably your best bet is to get a USB wireless adapter and try that on the laptop and see if it has the same problems.

I can't think of a better way to confirm or rule out the onboard wireless chipset/drivers as the problem.

Very occasionally (once a month or so), I have this same problem. It is always cured by going into Sleep mode and out again, which is the opposite to what you are experiencing.

My Toshiba laptop is always left in Sleep mode, so it restarts in just a couple of seconds. Internet connectivity usually takes around another 2 or 3 seconds to be established, but is extremely reliable apart from the once per month or so loss of connection. We also live in a rural area with no other access points within range.

I would also suggest trying another WiFi adaptor to narrow down the problem as Ragnor says. The built-in WiFi can be disabled using the slide switch on the front edge of the case. Given how easily those switches can be knocked, I wonder if that's not part of the problem?

I too have a TP Link WR1043ND and experience frequent WIFI disconnects. I never put any of my machines to sleep though, so there is an issue with the TP Link WR1043ND itself. I've read about similar issues here and elsewhere. I've not come across a solution yet. The bummer is that this router replaced a Linksys router which was doing something very similar...

Wondering if it is your TP Link WR1043ND causing the issue too?

Well, this was getting to be a right royal pain in the a$#e!!

Everytime I resumed from Sleep, Id have to troubleshoot the Wireless connection, Windows would reset the Adapter and bingo back online.
I have 3 AP's, all different makes.models, all with the same SSID but different channels and it would do the same on all of them. Spent some time away recently and even on a Motel or family AP's it would be the same. Rock solid when working, but resume from standby it would have do the same track: "troubleshoot the connection and then reset the adapter".

This morning decided to totally un-install the Drivers and then scan for Hardware changes ... and bingo ... not a problem since.

I seem to be having this problem with my TP Link WR1043ND too. I can't get my Win7 laptop to stay connected. It uses an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 130 adapter, on which I've turned off the Bluetooth (I don't use it). I'm going to try changing channels see if that helps.

Any other suggestions?

EDIT: Changing from Ch11 to Ch7 seems to have improved things. Will have to monitor to see if this "fix" is permanent!
