Replaced the HTPC with a Mac mini and removed the VMs as there are just too many and they change all the time. Also got my first 32GB machine.

It's not big and it's not smart

Switched GigaBit Ethernet backbone running the length of the house with user data resident on NAS and accessed by EStrong File Explorer (Android), Samba, Junction (WinXP) or Windows Library Tools (Win7/Win8) where NAS user data is seen as local file storage or library folders.

[edit] Just note, the blue lines connecting everything, shows they are wireless. No devices are wired to the modem or repeater in my house. The printer and EXT HDD are wired to that computer though and shared on the network.

Yes. ;) Hopefully I'll have a few good images to post sometime soon, just working on running some cable.

Ironically I spent some time this weekend shortening some cables that were way too long. I've always liked the idea of a pathc panel, but I'm always working on software nonsense.

My LAN has changed a bit..

Genius Wifi -> 2x laptops, 1x desktop (thats hardly on) and an android phone. No CAT5/6 anymore (ripped it out, previous owner did horrendous job of running it around the house). Oh, except a short 1m one to the PS3.

Similar to my setup, but without the offbeat stuff (as/400 etc).

I've got a couple of popcornhours and apple tv's for media distribution - and itunes integrates into the home audio distribution system via a denon 720ae bridge. It works really well, with the exception of my outside speakers.

My stupid amp doesn't output digital signals to the zone 2 out speakers. Why on earth would they block it like this?

All links are wireless after the router. simple, probably due to budget alone....
