insane:
Zeon: Talk to CoffeeBaron if you are in Auckland. He will come and check your wiring and make it as fast as possible. Would definitely recommend VDSL2 for uploading large videos. It's quite expensive though $400 for the install, $300 for a modem just for starters lol!

Really? I just finally got the bill for my VDSL wiring job and it was under $200. Sounds like you're using the wrong ISP Tongue Out

I have heard though that it's best to first get DSL provisioned on a line and then get it changed to VDSL, cheaper that way.

While you may think of that as a logical move it's not really that logical.

A master filter is essential on VDSL2+ unless it's a naked line and being terminated at the MDF or a new jackpoint. An ADSL2+ install doesn't include a filter unless requested (and paid for).

In reality IMHO every ADSL2+ install should be a truck roll unless specifically requested otherwise and include the install of a master filter. Chorus spent $1 billion delivering NZ kick ass copper DSL services, and a significant % of the population will never benefit from this because they're unwilling to pay money, or simply don't understand, that their house wiring is crippling their internet.
