I tried that.
I tried configuring my pc address to 192.168.0.2 and that worked for internet, but not with the palm, even with it at 192.168.0.1
And If I configure my whole network as auto, my network and internet do not work.

I am connected via cable.

I have to go to bed for now, but I'll try some more tomorrow if there are more suggestions.

If it helps, everything I ping comes up as ip 14.0.0.234, no matter what address I put in there (i.e. www.google.com or www.hotmail.com)

If I do use auto settings (and lose network and internet) when I connect with the palm, I try to ping my new auto IP (192.168.0.2 on the pc), it still times out (0x1212)

Another question...

What is the difference between the network settings in the BT adapter properties and the properties on the details page in the palm? I have configured both so they match to no avail also. It seems if I don't configure the settings in the palm also, I get no IP or DNS, so I have configured those manually too (IP 192.168.0.2 and DNS servers to match my internet DNS servers).

I have tried multiple variations of these configurations. Should I be leaving the ones in the Palm alone and set to auto? I see this was not covered in the guide.

These are two independent adapters. Imagine there is a cable between your computer and the Palm. The Bluetooth adapter will have its IP address and the Palm should have its own, different address. Now remove the cable. It's still there, through radio, and the configuration principle remains the same. Each device shall have a different non-conflicting IP address.

The problem is that Palm OS will use a "dial-up" connection with PPP, and the LAN Access profile will give the PPP connection handshake for this to complete. But a mini-DHCP is needed, and we provide this with ICS.

The Pocket PC and desktop/laptop clients implement another (newer) profile in addition to this one. In this case it's like using ethernet adapters, where no PPP is required and the network will work like any other ethernet connection.

Okay, so the palm should be set to auto and my only configuration should be on the desktop with the BT adapter. I understand this now Thank you for clearing that up.

Now, to make matters worse, I tried Softick's PPP which I see is essentially a front end for RAS, and I cannot even get this to connect. I thought this would be an easy temporary workaround until I had more time (tomorrow) to mess with it, but it also times out. I guess I need to clear up this issue first, then I'll be in business, eh?

One think you can try is MochaPPP. The problem is that it requires a Serial port, and you may then have conflicts with Hotsync. I know it works well, because I've used it with a Visor Prism years ago (at that time I had the Red-M Bluetooth Springboard).

Well, I tried something Ishould've tried a long time ago... rebooting. That got me actual IP's for sites that I'm trying to ping, but they still timeout. This is through Softick's PPP. I haven't tried just the standard connecetion yet, I will try that once before I go to bed now, but I am getting closer!!!

Okay, still cannot get anywhere on the regular BT network, and Softick's PPP gets me resolvable IP addresses, but no ping. I notice that my palm never has a gateway. It's always 0.0.0.0. This is on the regular BT network and on PPP. Is this normal or should I have a gateway?

I am going to bed now for real this time and I will check back tomorrow.

I don't have a Palm handy here to test now, can't really remember. You should not have to worry about the gateway there I think.
