Duh! Forget that, That white/brown is the 2nd pair off the service lead... Yeah looks like standard 2 pair internal wiring going into house.

AFAIK the factory making telephone cabling use what ever twist their current ethernet cable uses.

@raytaylor When have you ever found aluminium cabling used in NZ?

Yep that is correct, the Homeplan stuff was just a two pair build of stock cat5 pairs from a standard cable source.

There have been reports of aluminium cable turning up, much of it seems from dodgy asian sources, you pay for what you get!.

I was at a TE Connectivity presentation the other day and they stated a fair bit had turned up around the place, causes serious corrosion issues with IDC connections (ie Krone LSA).
