i assume your MDA is running the MS BT Stack. In this case it is very important that Active Sync on the PC side is already configured to the proper COM Port (normally COM7 if you are using the TOSHIBA BT Solution) You can check the proper COM port as follow: Goto [START]-[Control Panel]-[Bluetooth Local COM] whether COM7 is assigned as "LocalCOM Server".
Now you can Start your Bluetooth on the PDA and search for the PC. If you discover the offered profiles, "ActiveSync" should appear. If the configuration on the PC-side is wrong, you will get a "Serial Port" in the profile list, but no "ActiveSync"
Explanation: During discovering the remote services the PDA will send the command "CLIENT" to the remote serial port and if the response is "CLIENTSERVER", the Serial port will be detected as a BT Active Sync Port

I ALWAYS get the "Serial Port" option, when I "look" for my PC on the Vario with the Bluetooth option.
Do I have to change the COM port in Active Sync on the PC? (It's Com7)
