Bigfox: i understan but i dont think that everyone suddenly bought devices now.As i mentioned before i was getting 16 down speed three weeks ago.2 weeks ago got vdsl and had 25-27 down.a few day later it dropped to 7.neighboors stayed the same and i dont think that bought something uber powerful lol

It doesn't take much for this to happen, could you please also provide line stats?

what i did now is connected n55u back and tried 5 ghz.getting 15 down and 6 up on galaxy s4.ipad 2 cant see 5ghz....however 15 is low if on the cord i get at least 33.on channels 40 and 48 get 16-33 down and 7.4 up.ipad 2 cant see any channel of 5ghz.even my laptop which i bought 2 years ago for 2600 cant connect to 5ghz....

Line stats from your modem is what we're needing, I don't care about speedtests.

A speedtest over WiFi will normally be slower than Ethernet and if I do a speedtest via my S4 vs my Laptop it's normally much slower on the S4.

I personally don't have your modem type so no idea but http://192.168.1.254 will be a start. Do some searching on the forums and general troubleshooting. It's been explained many times in the Telecom VDSL thread. If it's WiFi interference then there is not much more that you can do but accept you'll never receive the full speed of your VDSL connection. On 2.4GHz 802.11n (300mbit) I get approx 28mbit down, on 5GHz 802.11a I can almost get 300mbit but this depends on device, interference, how your network is set up, what your neighbours are using and other types of interference.

Wireless is unreliable - that's just the way it is, especially in dense urban areas.

If you want performance, you need to run ethernet cables to your important devices. Nothing to do with Telecom

You need to understand that if your speed is fine over Ethernet that the issue doesn't lie with Telecom.

2.4Ghz congestion is an issue faced everywhere in the world. There are 3 usable channels and millions of devices that have to share those channels. In environments such as your own (inner city apartment) 2.4Ghz is very challenging and can be virtually unusable due to the noise floor. Telecom can't change that. If wireless if critical to you then you probably need to look at moving to 5Ghz.

The service Telecom provide you is fine, the router they provide you is also fine for 99% of home users out there. The problem being is you're not willing to go through all the normal troubleshooting steps or provide any evidential proof. Do the following, and also post your modem stats (your goal is to find out how to do this, it's not hard)

1) Change your channel spectrum to 20MHz under your routers WiFi settings
2) Try 802.11g only mode to see if this helps
3) Make sure you've bridged your N55U correctly and not creating a double-nat
4) Make sure your security type is WPA2-PSK [AES] - never use WEP, using anything else might slow the wireless network.
5) Check all connections etc.
6) Transfer a file from one device to another via WiFi to check the max speeds.
7) Reboot things.

If WiFi is unstable on 2.4GHz your only choice is cope with the speeds, use ethernet or powerline adapters or switch your devices to 5GHz (this also involves spending more money)

The situation with 5Ghz will never be as bad. There are something like 27 or 28 (off the top of my head) unique channels usable in NZ rather than 3 that don't overlap with 2.4Ghz, and because 5Ghz signals don't propagate in the same way they won't travel as far as 2.4Ghz in your typical environment.

2.4GHz and 5.8GHz are public spectrum for unlicensed devices. In a big city, it's just tough if it doesn't perform.

I think there's a flavour of Wi-Fi coming that uses something insane like 63GHz or something which is also unlicensed spectrum. But that's probably a mile away from ever happening on domestic stuff yet.

There are always things to improve wireless but it will cost a few more digits than a $110 router :)

If you have money to waste, you can Faraday cage your room if you wish.

Seeing that you are already squeezing 7Mbps, a more powerful radio may help. Most are only around 40-80mw. You can get some 1W plus units but that's another $130 bucks and won't improve the upstream but will help to drown out any other nearby Wi-Fi noise on similar channels (but not analogue devices and microwave ovens etc...).

Have you made sure your wireless devices aren't doing updates and downloads etc... too at the same time?

There's only so much half-duplex bandwidth available on an access point and the radio can only transmit in between interference as fast as the slowest connected client busy doing things (usually the furthest from the access point).

Change the channels, change the band, try a bigger RF output access point, if all else fails, wire it.

$110 for 33Mbps, according to your previous comments. Your wifi signal issues are not a problem with Telecom's VDSL service. You've even said you're using an N55U, so you can't even blame the Telecom-supplied router for poor wifi performance.

Change to 20MHz channel width and try dropping the router back from a 3x3 to 2x2 or 1x1 stream if there is an option on it for that, otherwise G will be single stream and 20MHz wide which will often work better than N does.

The wider and more channel options IME just make a bigger number appear in the stats of the connected device, and in tough environments with lots of noise end up going slower.

i just have a bad luck.even tho i am on 5ghz with 1 device operating next to the router i get 10mb...connection is not stable.can get 30 and one hour later 10....even on not crowded 5ghzregarding inssider and wi fi analyzer there is no other 5 ghz signal...
