Ah awesome, thanks guys, cheaper that way too. I don't need covers for the two, since there will be cables in there all the time. I may get the 683VH in case I need another one in future, I'll just tape over it. It's for the back of a top cupboard to be used as a server cupboard so appearance is irrelevant.

So I get the cover, the Cat6 module, do I need anything else? Something to screw it all on to? Faceplates don't attach straight to the wall I don't think...

You can just screw it to the wall over the hole, but that's real rough. You really need a flush box (in the wall) or a mounting block (on the wall). Most flush boxes need to be screwed to a stud or nog, but you can get them that clip into a reasonably well fitting hole in the wall.

Thanks Andrew. I have an electrican doing the work, maybe I'll leave the mounting to him, he'll have flush boxes and such.

Isn't that just the cover plate without the mounting plate, which clips over the top of the mounting plate. The mounting plate should be clear, and is what the modules clip into. You need the mounting plate otherwise it the modules will be lose.

You could also look at what clipsal do,although they are now owned by the company that owns PDL , schneider electric, so not much competition in these things in NZ. HPM also do some, but their range is pretty limited when I last looked.

PDL 682VH = 2gang Cover Plate & Grid <---- GRID Plate to mount Mechs in

We install the PDL series of PLates and Mechs when installing the new single RJ45 when installing ONTs - this is so the phone line can be taken back to the ETP from the ONT or RGW using RJ products (45,12,10 etc ) now and not BT jacks

The Clipsal/HPM plates either take their own mechs (or ones made to fit only their plates) or they do have a keystone adaptor that fit the mech back from the front of the plate which can make removeing a corded connection a bit hard

Ah, thats right, they don't sell the grid without a plate, so you are often paying for a plate that you may not need. I remember now, that's why I stack of plates in a box somewhere, as I wanted stainless, so also had to buy plates too.

When you buy the blank face plate it comes with the clear grid thingy / You clip the pdl to keystone adapters into the Grid / you then clip the 'keystone' RJ45 Jacks (Mechs) onto the adaptors / after that you either screw the grid onto the wall, mounting block or flush box and clip the face plate over the top

Just remember to mount the keystones the correct way (ie not upside down). I've come across way too many to count in my life installed upside down.

Yep, didn't take care when taking that photo! Other way up from the photo... Pins at the top, latch at the bottom.

That is pins for connecting up and the latch holder for the plug clip down - ie the other way around from that in the 'grid' in runnningman's pic (as he has noted)

Yea no point buying the light switch as it will come with the switch modules.

You simply want the dual gang faceplate with 619MD modules. Stewarts would be the go but aren't open in the weekends (except saturday 8-12).

Yep, that's how they look. I got all PDL 600 series outlets in our house, with the optional stainless steel cover plates. They look good.
