Personally I'd skip the "green" feature of spinning up and down drives, I've always thought it a marketing feature as most drive failures I've seen come from drives that don't power up again.
Also did you try a different cable during your fault finding ?
Oh and get another drive for your NAS, one is almost pointless in a system designed to provide redundancy :-)
its just a bit expensive.200 for 3tb and 280 for 4tb.For now i have 4tb(3tb+1tb external hdd and i can fill only 1tb)Will get the rest when they will drop in price or i will fill all the space as i still have 3tb of an empty space and i mainly bought nas to keep all files together as i have them everywhere lol. So redundancy for my games and movies is not that important as i dont have any sensitive data or anything like that on it. I also bought it to watch movies from it on tv as my tv has built in media server so i didnt have to configure anything.Just press on the nas cloud and choose whatever u want.
Guys could you please help me with the security of my NAS?I thought i am quite secure when i created a group of users and gave them different permissions. However, i installed GPlayer on iPad so i would be able to play mov and so on from iPad and when i went to UPnP servers i could see my cloud and have an access to system default shared folders such as music photo and video.I checked permissions and guests shouldn't have access to those folders. I also have another iPad and i have the same program and i can't see the UPnP server from it.Furthermore, on iPad where i can i installed DS file(sinology program) and logged in before.Could you please give me advice on how to protect my cloud so no one will have access to it?
