raytaylor: The powerline adaptors will usually work if you are in the same building, and the building just has a single phase power supply.
Dual phase is like having two seperate power lines coming into the house from the street, and is common in commercial buildings, and very few larger homes.
The wiring in the building is split in half with half the building running on one phase and the other half of the building running on the second phase.
Because of this, the powerline adaptors cannot talk to each other because the wiring does not meet within the building.
See the guide in my signature to understand why wifi doesnt work between floors.
