TVNZ on demand works no problems for me and I use it daily. I normally fire it up on my PC and cast the tab to the Chromecast once the video starts playing.

That's exactly what I was trying to do, without any luck.  Maybe it's the changes I made to my DNS that are causing problems. dns4me allows you to turn different services on and off, and I think I remember I seeing settings for NZ TV (although why anyone would want to want NZ TV from overseas I'll never know!)

I use DNS4ME as well. Have you tried enabling an ad blocker on the site?

One side note: TV3 and 4 on-demand works great when casting from a Chrome tab.  TVNZ doesn't work for me, I just get a black rectangle where the video should go.  If I mouse over the video space then I get the controls come up, but pausing and restarting still does nothing for me.  Does it work for anyone else?

I think it might be the DRM on TVNZ that is causing you problems. I wonder what would happen if you used Firefox and mirrored the session for TVNZ?

On my PC/Laptop I can't get TVNZ to work in Chromium, but it will work in Firefox. Chromium is using pepperflash while FF is using Adobe Flash. I am told that pepperflash does not work with the DRM  that TVNZ insist on using.

No, I don't use any ad blockers.  Are you suggesting that an ad blocker might be the problem or the solution?

I can tell you that adblockers do cause a problem with TVNZ - if you can get it to work you will see a little black bar somewhere on the viewing area. It goes away if you disable the adblocker

Wouldn't this block on the originating device as well as just on the TV it's being streamed out to?

I take it TVNZ doesn't formally support the Chromecast feature?

Sorry I don't understand - I said switch the blocker off. And as yet I have not heard of any support for the Chromecast from any NZ TV stations

I've managed to get my Chrome browser to cast TVNZ to my Chromecast.  I did this by logging into the dns4me.net website and ticking the TVNZ service and setting the country to NZ.  I had previously had this service as unticked, thinking that dns4me.net would just pass through my true location, but obviously this wasn't happening for some reason.
