Just checked the Apple Store and the latest Airport Express does do ac standard WiFi. The limited number of GigE ports (3) is more of an issue for my entertainment hub (AV Rx, Blu-Ray, TiVo, TV & Apple TV) which is remote from my fibre ONT and router.

Sorry just another question. Im having a play with the HG630b's FTP and usb devices attached to the router. Is it possible to stream from these devices? It seems like it only wants to download? Is streaming dependant on the router? Thanks
Will there be a noticable difference between say the HG659b and the RT-AC66U for example?
No. They are both just average residential routers. One looks prettier than the other.
Seriously, you haven't specified any requirements so any old residential router will be fine. People complaining about disconnections are probably just experiencing disconnections on wifi because the router is in their garage and they expect it to work 2 floors up. Just use whatever your ISP gives you, it will be fine. They (the ISP) will have done a decent amount testing and chances are it isn't a bad piece of kit.
Just an update. I got my new router and on my devices that support wireless ac/5ghz, i now get close, if not the same, speed test result as through ethernet :)
