Not all RF emissions from an access point are intentional.  The access point emits some signal that could simply be called "noise".  If you have another electronic device extremely close to an access point this "noise" can create issues, such as "lines" appearing on a camera.

Higher quality access points use higher quality components, hence why they cost more, and these higher quality components may produce less "noise".

Not 100% correct but hopefully makes sense.

Sometimes it is hard to tell and, as a large amount of interference isn't detected by laptop based spectrum analyzers such as AirMagnet SpectrumXT or Metageek Chanalyzer, without an industrial spectrum analyzer you make an educated guess.

For a residential issue the huge cost in hiring an industrial spectrum analyzer and qualified wireless engineer just isn't justified.

If you add to that the issue that the camera could have just been cheap and nasty....   

Thanks for the advice, everyone. @tchart, I'll definitely have a look into the Dlink options. From a quick look at the spec sheets, only that particular model seems to offer it as a feature.

I've changed my mind though. Now I want a combined toilet roll holder and WAP. Go the full Al Bundy on this thing.
