jonb: I didn't realise that a wall plate that had 6 jacks was even a thing!
Yes they are easily obtained.
I have used a proper 24 port patch panel (at the "primary" end) in two houses we have built and then found that it is cheaper to use 4 plates with 6 ports on each.
Hi you will need a router between the ONP and Edge router Lite to set-up VLAN tagging and get onto your ISP right? If the router has 4 ports then star of that or buy a router that has 8 gigabit ports and star from there.

my router runs on consumer grade equipment and has 9 ports, does that count? - not sure ild want pfsense to handle bridging the ports though, seems like a waste.
as for the edgerouter, pretty sure they support tagging?

MadEngineer: Edgerouter, like all good routers, does vlan tagging.
What MadEngineer said. The plan (on the 8th of June, one crosses their finger and hopes that Chorus and Orcon make it happen) is:
ONT - ER Lite - TP-L 24 port PoE Switch - lots of cat 6 wires running around the house to terminating RJ45 wall plates - 3 of which will host Cambium E400 APs
ASUS RT-AC88U has 8 ports, I use it on Vodafone fibre and its fine. I also have a Nighthawk X6 R8000 but that only has 4 ports o I use that as a Wire Access Point connect by cable to the ASUS.
