I know everything is messy but I was in a hurry, before someone was to undertake a job (if I was to hire someone) I would of course clean everything up :)

It depends how "good-a-job" you want. It looks like its across and up a little.

You could run a cable yourself. But its a LOT cleaner if you get RJ45 jacks installed in the walls. Someone would probably have to go to the property to determine where you are gonna run the cable. But what I would do to start is go and plug in a longish ethernet cable, and play some games and make sure there are no issues. There probably wont be. But this will confirm this is your problem.

I see vents in the outside wall at floor level of your room?

If running it myself, I'd use one of these vents for the room entry point, and definitely terminate it unseen under the desk (else you're just adding more wires to the 'rats nest')

The outside white box is called your ETP entry, and that's where the fibre is likely to be installed to. The new ISP may well also give you a router with Ethernet connections (depends on ISP) and 2D give a great router with 4 gigabit points so your new cable would just run straight from that back out the wall and up through the wall behind your office. This shouldn't cost more than a couple hundred for someone else to do, and less than a hundred for you to do yourself reasonably well (if you already have the tools - hammer drill, Ethernet crimper and side cutters).

For a quick and cheap (dirty) job it's just the cost of a premade wire of the right length and a couple holes drilled (and filled!) so roughly $30-$50? Some square conduit for another $30 odd should make it quite clean looking outside too, though face plates would tidy the inside nicely also.

How big is your budget - that decides how good it'll look?

Yes, I will go and buy a cable to hang out my window to confirm, but I can hardly call myself "PC Master Race" without an ethernet connection anyway!

The vents are for between floors.

At the moment I'm probably looking at switching back to spark and their modem has gigabit ethernet so yay!

Bigpipe could be an option, but with so many companies offering different things it's hard. I'll probably make a table of some sorts at some stage comparing the pricing and claims of each company.
