Thank you to everyone that has helped me, I have this up and running. Done the following

*ESXI Plug NIC Cable LAN interface port to switch

*ESXI Plug NIC cable WAN interface port to OTA

*ESXI changed VLAN tag in esxi interface port for wan to 4095 (all)

*PFSENSE changed wan IPV4 to PPPoE added user@spark.co.nz and password

*PFSENSE didnt add VLAN10.

everything seems to working fine, but I need to do some more testing.

For spark you should need VLAN10 on the PPPoE interface, If your connecting without it, something has gone wrong with the the config side on Sparks side...

Spark do not do untagged ports.

Yea this is what I thought also. But if I add in VLAN10 then I lose connection. I also setup a SophosUTM VM and connected to Spark UFB with no VLAN tag.

i'd recommend asking it to be double checked by the fibre inflight team, to see if your port itself was assigned correctly on chorus's side as it sounds like something has gone wrong (which is why you were having issues setting up it how it should work)

Just to confirm, you are connecting straight to the ONT?

EDIT: how long has your UFB connection been up? i may have suggested the wrong team before thinking.

connecting straight to ONT from network port on ESXi Host. Have had UFB from June/July this year I think. Everything is working, just sorted out NAT for XBOX on PFSENSE and playing games.

Yeah okay, would be back to res then, not inflight.

Only reason i say it should be checked (from your usage, unless the CIR is required tagging doesnt really matter) but from a provisioning side someone may have made a slight mistake in the setup of your line - Makes it hard to troubleshoot etc.

Your Spark supplied modem should do the tagging too though, so i wonder if you are actually tagging in there somewhere without realizing..

Sorry forget my past posts, I wasn't looking at my settings correctly on my ESXi machine. I have worked out what I done on my setup

ESXI HOST

LAN vSwitch1

WAN vSwitch2 -  VLAN10

PFSENSE VM

PFSENSE setup PPPoE on WAN port with no VLAN.

Everything is working correctly.
